[StFX] STAT201 Final Exam Tutorials

As mentioned in class, I will provide sample problems for you to try in preparation to the Final exam. Although I cannot give solutions to them, the 201 markers/tutors will have access to them and will have solutions for those interested. That tutorial, which you voted on, will be hosted on sunday, December 6th from 5:00 - 7:00pm in SCHW156. As mentioned before, it will cost $10 for the session; however, given that they normally charge $15/hr you are getting quite a good rate

Since the term is coming to an end, questions 7 and 8 on the assignment will be bonus questions and not mandatory for the assignment. With that said, I would strongly recommend you attempt the questions for yourself before the final, as the paired difference stuff is open game for the final examination. #STAT201 #Teaching

To ensure that we thoroughly cover all the necessary material, Lab 4 will be restructured as a class and so we will only lightly talk about the material related to the lab - for those interested, I will post the lab material online later on - and continue w/ the course per usual. [StFX] STAT201 (Extra) Tutorial, Wednesday

If you are still having some issues w/ the z/t rejection regions for some α, I will be running a tutorial THIS wednesday (December 2) from 5:30 - 6:30, with the possibility of extending to 7:30 if necessary. To Reject or not to reject, that is the question...

The question of rejecting the null (and risk committing a Type I error) or failing to reject the null (and risk committing a Type II error) is a ponderous thing, but as we have learned there are 3 methods by which we can come to the same conclusion. Compare the test-statistic against some z (or t) value Calculate a confidence interval and compare if the sample mean is contained within it, or Compare the p-value against α. All three are dependent upon α, although if our test s
